These three paintings are all watercolours. Employing the traditional technique of using a lot of water. I wished to achieve the essential translucency of watercolour and yet demonstrate how this medium can be just as vibrant as oil painting. They are transcriptions of oil paintings by Vermeer, Anne Cotterill, and Nicolas Trudgian. No black was used. To achieve the dark intensity of the background I used French Ultramarine and Burnt Sienna; much water and much pigment.
